How Rocktape works

Unlike rigid tape which many people find too stiff and restrictive, Rocktape is stretchy and is quickly becoming the preferred tape used by practitioners and athletes.

Key benefits of using Rocktape:

  2. Assists to reduce swelling
  3. Allows full range of movement
  4. Hypoallergenic – no zinc oxide or latex
  5. Water resistant – can be worn for up to 5 days

How does it work?  When applied correctly, Rocktape’s unique elasticity causes the skin to form convolutions and wrinkle.  This decompresses the tissue immediately below the skin.  It is believed that this has three main effects:

  1. Fluid effect- improving blood and lymphatic flow in the taped area
  2. Mechanical effect- improving the slide and glide between tissue layers
  3. Neurological effect- altering the perception of pain and improving body awareness.

Key symptoms that Rocktape might assist:

  1. Muscle pain or cramping
  2. Joint pain
  3. Poor posture
  4. Inflammation or bruising
  5. Zinc oxide allergies

Practitioners use Rocktape is to assist in facilitating injury recovery and prevention.  It is a tool that may assist them enhancing function in their patients.  Proposed mechanisms include:

  1. Improving kinesthetic awareness
  2. Improving postural control
  3. Modulating muscle activation via increased afferent input
  4. Altering pain perception through alternate afferent input
  5. Providing a positional stimulus to correct aberrant movement patterns

The properties of different colours and patterns are the same.
